As part of the Margarita Championship is the Food Pair Award.  This year we are pleased to have Andrea Saavedra, restaurant critic for Bakersfield Life Magazine, and her husband Dr. Berkay Unal as the food pairing judges.

Judges will determine which food pairings balance well with the margarita.

Local artists will be creating art either signifying the cancer experience or the essence of the Inaugural Kern Margarita Championship live on site at the event.  Attendees will be able to watch as artists form their creative expression. The original pieces will be available for live auction at the end of the evening.

Cancer patient art will be on display from the Lilly Oncology on Canvas collection.  Art can help people express experiences that are too difficult for words. For more than a decade, Oncology on Canvas has provided members of the cancer community an opportunity to express the changes, experiences, and emotions that give each cancer story its meaning.  To share in these works of art and be inspired by them join us for this special exhibit.

The Josh Farler Foundation brings you the Inaugural Kern Margarita Championship, an unforgettable evening of tastings of World class Margaritas, food pairings, live art demonstrations, patient art exhibit, live music, and more.

Kern County restaurants will battle it out with live Judging and a People’s Choice award, for the best Signature Margarita.  Enjoy food sampling and margarita tastings from 12 local restaurants.  Attendees will get to vote for their favorite margarita!

Why?

A collaboration with local restaurants and organizations that highlights and promotes their culinary expertise. To raise awareness of the rich and vibrant culinary community in Kern County.  All funds raised go directly to support local cancer patients with food, transportation and lodging while traveling for treatment through the CBCC Foundation, AIS Cancer Center and Rio Bravo Cancer Center.

Tickets include Specialty Margarita pours, selection of samplings from local Kern County Restaurants and Purveyors.  21 & Over Event.  Tickets are available for purchase at EventBrite as follows:

General Admission - $65 (check Eventbrite for possible Earlybird Discount)
Guest will receive a drink glass with a ticket to vote for their favorite drink. Vendors have offered food pairings but are not obligated.  Open areas for seating, stand up tables, smoking areas, and access to the band area are all included. This is a 21 and over event.

VIP Admission - (Sold Out)
VIP tickets include early entry into the competition (6pm means no lines!) Private area with available seating and full buffet dinner.
